Bill Avery (1948-2023)

William (Bill) Avery (1948-2023) had an extensive background in entertainment safety and security.

His specialized career began in 1976 as the Safety Manager for Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. He remained there until his promotion to Anheuser Busch Companies, Inc.’s corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. In this position, he assumed corporate safety responsibilities for the Busch Entertainment Corporation and the Wholesale Operations Division.

In 1986 Bill returned to Florida and joined SeaWorld Parks, Inc., a division of Harcourt, Brace & Jovanovich (HBJ). Bill accepted a position as Director of Risk Management. After nine months, he was promoted to Vice President of Safety, Security, Rides, and General Maintenance for Boardwalk & Baseball, Inc., a rides amusement park and home of the Kansas City Royals spring training facility.

In 1990, Bill founded Avery Safety Consulting—a firm that provided safety consulting and expert witness services to attorneys and insurance providers. Bill offered comprehensive safety, loss prevention, and expert witness services for 33 years, with exceptional quality, integrity, and expertise around the world.
